【摘要】:Thepresenceofwaterinsideamembraneswitchcanaffectitsmechanicaloperationorelectricalfunctionality,orboth.Electricalfailurecanresultasshortcircuitsduetosilvermigrationorexceedingthespecifiedresistanceduetooxidation.Thispracticeestablishesaproceduretoverifytheabilityofamembraneswitchtoresisttheentryofliquidinitselforafinishedproduct,orboth.Itisusefulinidentifyingdesigndeficiencies.Submersiontestingmaybedestructive,thereforeanysamplestestedshouldbeconsideredunfitforfutureuse.1.1Thispracticeestablishesproceduresforthesubmergingofamembraneswitchtoverifyresistancetoingressofaspecifiedliquid.1.2Thispracticecanalsobeusedtoverifytheabilityofamembraneswitchorgraphicslayertoactasaliquidsealforafinishedproduct.1.3Additionaltestmethodsorpracticescanbeincorporatedtoinvestigatespecificresultsorcapabilities.1.4ThispracticeisamodificationofNationalElectricalManufacturersAssoc.(NEMA)PublicationNumber250-1991Section6.10,whichisatestforsubmersionofafinishedproducthousing.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.
